Identity Under Erasure

Characters' sense of self is eroded by external forces, whether through chemicals, temporal manipulation, or psychological coercion. Individuals are reduced to hollowed-out vessels performing others' wills, their identities painfully extracted and reshaped. This erosion is not an abstract philosophical problem but is grounded in the bodily and temporal violence of coercion, where autonomy is surgically excised. Being forced into defensive postures where autonomy is compromised is a core conflict, underscoring the struggle to resist becoming an instrument of another's will. The theme interrogates how easily identity is imposed or erased by others' perceptions and labels, and how the destruction of memory, emotion, and agency in service of a hollow transcendence is revealed as a slow death of the self.
