A single-person shuttle boarding hatch: a reinforced composite panel roughly human-height that slides upward to reveal a narrow ramp. Black neoprene gaskets ring the seam, and a recessed mechanical latch and small status LED sit beside a stamped clearance plate. The outer surface bears dust and faint scuffing from planetary landings. In the scene DATA works from inside with the hatch framing the sky; ARD'RIAN lingers at its lip for a last exchange, the opening acting as a tight, intimate threshold for their farewell.
