An unseen, purposeful extraterrestrial presence that manipulates physical environments to achieve inscrutable ends. The intelligence must have transported the refrigerated vehicle into place, forced open multiple crypts, and removed selected occupants while leaving others intact, producing a deliberate forensic pattern. Its interventions convert salvage into an active investigation and impose moral and procedural dilemmas on the crew, functioning as an offstage architect whose indirect actions drive suspense and mystery.
