Sallah's Makeshift Lifeline Rope

An improvised lifeline Sallah constructs and secures at the five-foot skylight above the Tanis map room. In accounts it is described variously as a sturdy rope secured to a heavy oil drum or as garments (tunics, robes, pants) lashed together with a bright Nazi flag used as the most visible section; in all versions Sallah lowers the line through the skylight so Indy can climb/descend into the subterranean map room.
