Hillock Landing Site

A 20-foot-wide crater stamped into the Carbury heath by the temporal missile, its flanks smoldering as grit collapses around the edges. Where grass once grew in neat tufts, the impact strips the turf down to raw loam, pulverizing the topsoil into damp clay clumps that cling to boots. The blast flattens a small hillock into a firing-range pockmark, the turf peeling back like flaps of skin to expose its hollow center. Smoke and heat linger in eddies around the lip as characters approach, their boots sinking half an inch into the still-warm crater floor.
