Aggedor is the primal deity of Peladon, a shaggy sacred beast embodying the planet’s most ancient traditions. Worshipped as an inviolable force of judgment, its spirit is invoked by High Priest Hepesh to sanctify political resistance against external influence. Though physical manifestations are rare, reanimated specimens become monstrous agents of Peladon’s zero-sum theology, enforcing purity above all else. The Doctor encounters it first in the tunnels, where its instinctive reactions to hypnotic mirror-work expose the fragility of ancient ritual.
Aggedor is Peladon’s ancient, sentient guardian statue—a primal force of the planet’s religious tradition rendered physical. The creature embodies Peladon’s zero-sum survivalist ethos, meting out brutal justice to those who violate its sacred codes or threaten the world. Though awakened only by extreme peril, it responds erratically to shifting political winds: summoned by traitors like Eckersley, then repurposed by the Doctor to defend Peladon against Ice Warrior invasion. Its wrath is indiscriminate, but its loyalty remains tethered to Peladon’s survival, not sympathies. Physically, it appears as a shaggy, unstoppable force wielding a searing heat ray, yet its actions reveal a beast torn between divine mandate and external manipulation.
