The Stallholder is the gatekeeping operator of a snack stall on Segonax, caught between local trade and the Psychic Circus’s oppressive operations. A bitter and territorial figure, they enforce rigid social boundaries with practiced hostility, measuring worth by appearance and origin while masking deep-seated insecurity behind contempt for outsiders. Though initially dismissive of the Doctor and Ace as 'riff-raff', they recognize and capitulate to perceived bourgeois respectability or direct personal benefit, revealing opportunism beneath their territorial bravado. Their domain—both stall and social gatekeeping—serves as a fragile bulwark against the circus’s exploitation of Segonax’s vulnerable, though it offers only the illusion of autonomy.
